About Niko in the NICU: “Our son, Niko, was born at 26 weeks at 1 lb 8 oz last year, and spent 100 days in the nicu.
Through the journey, my husband and I created a children’s book called, Niko in the NICU—a fun and heartfelt tale inspired by the real challenges and triumphs of babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (“NICU”).
Told through the eyes of Niko, an adorable baby turtle, this story blends humor, hope, and heart as he overcomes his early struggles in the NICU to become a happy, healthy little turtle—just like all the other baby turtles. With gentle illustrations and a light, reassuring tone, NIKO in the NICU is designed to comfort families during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives, while helping young siblings and children understand the journey in a way that’s accessible and uplifting.
NIKO in the NICU is the book we wish we had during our own NICU journey—and we believe it can be a must-have for hospitals, parents of NICU babies, and NICU support organizations nationwide. A portion of the sales of the book goes to to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Niko in the NICU, which supports NICUs and NICU families across the State of Michigan.”
